How to Avoid Using Personal Care Products Hidden with Toxic Chemicals

We are finding out more and more about hidden toxic chemicals that are in our everyday personal care products, such as toothpaste, mouthwash, makeup, soaps, shampoos, conditioners, laundry detergents, fabric softeners and much more.

Many of us wonder why companies would put toxic chemicals in products that we put on our bodies and in our mouths. The answer is not simple and not intentional.  In the past century, scientific evidence shows that certain chemicals in commercial personal care products bought in the grocery stores and drug stores are not safe to put on our bodies.

Unfortunately, companies in the U.S. are allowed to put ingredients into personal care products with no required safety testing, and without disclosing all the ingredients.  [Resource]

Johnson & Johnson was sued by a family whose mother, Jacqueline Fox, died of ovarian cancer linked to her daily use of talcum-based Johnson’s Baby Powder and Shower to Shower products.  Fox used the products for decades on her most sensitive body areas. Johnson and Johnson knew about the cancer link and failed to put warnings on the product labels.

Even though this is shocking, it’s also not surprising that many commercial products on our shelves contain poison chemicals with no warning on the labels.

It is unfortunate that many people assume companies are using the safest and latest technology to make personal care products safe for use on ourselves and our children.

So where can a person shop to find safer personal care products?  Is there any such place as a store with a conscience? Indeed, a company with a conscience exists, and that is why I write my blog with these informative articles.  I genuinely care, and I am very passionate about letting other people know about toxic commercial products.

I’ve been using safer soap bars, shampoos, makeup, and lotions for over 10 years. I would like to start with Renew.

10 years ago I was searching for a body lotion that would not cause me to itch, and that was soothing to my dry, irritated skin.  I was trying everything at the local drug store. Then I discovered that formaldehyde was one of the ingredients in commercial lotions as a preservative.  Formaldehyde is disguised with different names such as formalin, formic aldehyde, methanediol, methanal, methyl aldehyde, methylene glycol, methylene oxide.  Formaldehyde causes cancer and is a carcinogen. Renew Moisturizing Lotion does not contain any carcinogens, is soothing, and healing to dry, ravaged skin. Renew Moisturizing Lotion is fast-absorbing and long lasting on your skin. It uses a combination of glycerin and petroleum in high amounts for exclusive moisturizing aid.
